How to evaluate applications for the Specialist certificate in Sport Psychology in the pilot phase

  1. The candidate submits an application (paper or electronic with uploaded documents) to the Provisional S-NAC in Sport Psychology, which comprises:
    • an application form.
    • a copy of the Basic European Certificate in Psychology (or in alternative the identification number of his/her Europsy certificate).
    • a structured CV.
    • evidence of additional postgraduate learning activities.
    • a portfolio.
    • evidence of work while being coached as a sport psychologist.
    • a Competence Development Record (recommended).
  2. The Provisional S-NAC in Sport Psychology confirms the receipt of the application and asks for supplementary information in case this is not complete or up to date. Subsequently, a twofold evaluation of the application is carried out.
    • The list of courses is evaluated against criteria developed by the Provisional Specialist European Awarding Committee for Sport Psychology.
    • The Provisional S-NAC in Sport Psychology performs a reference check regarding the coaching, and evaluates the applicant’s work experience and competences against the competence requirements and the quantitative requirements regarding the work experience. If additional clarification is needed, the Provisional S-NAC in Sport Psychology invites the applicant for a Competence Assessment Interview via Internet.
  3. Provisional S-NAC in Sport Psychology integrates the results of the evaluations. In case of a deficiency, the applicant is informed about the need for compensation. The Provisional Specialist Certificate in Sport Psychology is either awarded or not awarded. In the latter case the applicant can appeal and ask for a review of the Provisional Specialist National Awarding Committees in Sport Psychology judgment.

Awarding of the provisional certificate

Psychologists who took part in the pilot and who satisfied the requirements to receive the Provisional EuroPsy Specialist Certificate in Sport Psychology can receive a provisional “testimonium” of specialist expertise. The participants in the pilot phase are not officially applying for the EuroPsy. Therefore, the participants in the pilot do not have to pay any fees during the pilot phase. When the pilot and the Provisional EuroPsy Specialist certificate proposal will be approved by EFPA and the regular bodies (Specialist Awarding Committees) will be in place, the provisional testimonium can be exchanged for a Specialist EuroPsy Certificate in Sport Psychology. For the official Europsy Basic and the Specialist EuroPsy Certificate in Sport Psychology the applicants will have to pay a fee to the National Awarding Committee. This fee varies from country to country.
